RINA’s newly elected Board of Directors has appointed current General Manager Paolo Moretti as Group Chief Executive Officer, succeeding Carlo Luzzatto, who has held the position since December 2023. The appointment means that this manager, who grew up in the naval engineering field and has worked at RINA for nearly 30 years, will be responsible for driving the classification society’s next stage of development.

Ugo Salerno continues to serve as Executive Chairman, responsible for communications and institutional relations. At the same time, Giosuè Vezzuto succeeds Paolo Moretti as CEO of RINA Services, which handles the group’s marine and certification businesses. This completes the corresponding adjustments to RINA’s management and the heads of its core business companies.

This leadership change is an important step in RINA’s implementation of the growth strategy agreed with its shareholders, Registro Italiano Navale, RINA’s founding entity, and the Italian investment fund Fondo Italiano d’Investimento SGR.

RINA’s Board of Directors expressed sincere gratitude to Carlo Luzzatto for his contributions to the group’s development during his tenure. The new Board members include Barbara Caputo, Marco Cecconi, Nazareno Cerni, Simonetta Di Pippo, Guido Figliola, Roberto Martinoli, Paolo Moretti, Paolo Pieranton and Ugo Salerno.

Paolo Moretti is a naval engineer and joined RINA in 1997. His career spans both the Italian market and international markets, and he has both marine business management experience and long-term involvement in the group’s strategy and business development.

During his time at RINA, Paolo Moretti served as General Manager of Marine Business, Executive Vice President for Marine Strategic Development and Chief Commercial Officer, successively overseeing multiple business areas of the group. From 2020 to 2026, he served as CEO of RINA Services, leading the marine and certification businesses. This experience gives his new appointment a clear character of internal succession: the new group leader is not only familiar with the organizational system but has also directly participated in the operation and development of core businesses.

The personnel adjustment comes as RINA’s business scale continues to expand. Ugo Salerno said that over the past five years, RINA’s revenue has more than doubled, exceeding €1 billion. Looking ahead to the next stage, RINA will further accelerate its development, with service quality and employee professionalism remaining important foundations for the group’s development. Regarding Paolo Moretti’s appointment, Ugo Salerno emphasized his management experience, market understanding and contributions to the group’s continued growth.

In his remarks on taking office, Paolo Moretti focused on strategy execution, operational simplification and service upgrading. He said he will continue to translate the group’s strategic goals into tangible results and continue to invest resources in building a more advanced and more digital service system. These remarks also provide specific clues for observing the direction of the new management. Rather than simply expanding business scale, how to simplify operations, improve service delivery efficiency and turn digital investment into service improvements that customers can feel will become important tasks in advancing the group’s development.

Shareholders also gave positive assessments of the personnel arrangement. Paolo d’Amico, Chairman of Registro Italiano Navale, RINA’s founding entity, said that Paolo Moretti’s appointment opens a new chapter for RINA, and that shareholders will continue to support the management team and fully recognize the new leader’s accumulated experience. Domenico Lombardi, CEO of Fondo Italiano d’Investimento SGR, noted that RINA has achieved notable results in scale and transformation in recent years, combining a clear strategy with innovative momentum, and expressed confidence that Paolo Moretti can lead the team to seize market opportunities and respond to industry challenges.

For the maritime industry, the simultaneous handover of RINA Services’ leadership deserves attention. With revenue exceeding €1 billion, RINA’s next-stage focus is to turn scale advantages into stable and sustainable service capabilities. Paolo Moretti’s proposals to simplify operations and advance digitalization are mainly aimed at improving efficiency in business scenarios such as inspection and certification and document flows. Professional competence and service quality remain fundamental, and the implementation results of the new management await continued industry observation.
